|Einleitung=The monthly magazine "Compact - Magazine for Sovereignty" is chief edited by Jürgen Elsässer. It is a "Querfront" magazine - meaning that its aim is to unite far left and far right actors through shared tropes - and has been seen as a mouthpiece of the AfD party and also Pegida.
The "Querfront" strategy goes back to the 1920s where e.g. the then chancellor Kurt von Schleicher tried to unite all anti-democratic forces against the Weimar Republic in order to form a union across the left and right.
|Arbeitsmodus, Ziele=Besides the print journal and the website, Compact also has a Youtube channel called Compact-TV, moderated by Katrin Ziske.
The magazine has a print run of 85.000.
The magazine is very close to the right wing of the AfD, i.e. its East German members. For example, Andre Poggenburg of AfD Sachsen-Anhalt gave interviews only to Compact after the Land elections there. Elsässer refers to the AfD as the party of the "silent majority" and describes Commpact as the voice of the silent majority. Compact sees all other media as "Lügenpresse", the lying media.
|Einleitung=The SZW was founded on Schloss Weikersheim and sees itself as a 'Christian-conservative think tank'. It organises conferences and seminars in particular on the topics of European and German politics.
|Arbeitsmodus, Ziele=It was founded, as it says on its website, with the goal to lead the intellectual debate with the 'cultural revolution of 1968' in the spirit of a 'liberal, Christianity-oriented conservatism' on the 'foundations of the liberal ('freiheitlich') state and the rule of law'.
The SZW emphasises that it is based, unreservedly, on the foundations of a liberal, democratic and social state and the rule of law and that it seems itself as an 'independent voice of a civil movement ('Bürgerbewegung') beyond the obsolete political polarisation of "left" and "right"'.
|Organisation/Finanzierung Text=Over the decades, funding came from federal and Land coffers, from private individuals and from large corporations.
The charitable foundation Stiftung zur Förderung christlichen, vaterländischen und humanistischen Gedankengutes in Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Kunst und Politik, is one of the main sponsors. The foundation was established to honour Hans Filbinger, a conservative CDU politician, Nazi-party member and military judge between 1943 and 1945.
The foundation was established to honour Hans Filbinger, a conservative CDU politician, Nazi-party member and military judge between 1943 and 1945.
|automatische Einleitung (J/N)=Y
|Einleitung=This think tank claims independence from Open Europe London and Open Europe Brussels. It is an ordo-liberal institution, staffed by a number of academics and with some support in the German academic community of economists.
|Arbeitsmodus, Ziele=It produces reports, organises events and seeks to partake in public discussions. It promotes free trade, is against 'over-regulation', castigates the waste of public monies, argues for monetary stability, and "European Ordnungspolitik rather than interventionism'. It is also an opponent of structural reform over a e.g. Eurobonds. Lastly, it bemoans growing EU centralism which threatens responsible behaviour of EU states, freedom, democracy and diversity.
The think tank says it wants to 'implement the foundations of a market economy based on Ordnungspolitik in Europe'.
|Kind of institution=Think Tank;
|Topics=nation; identity; immigration; Education; Foreign and Security Policy; state
|Topics Anmerkungen=The think tank engages, in the main, not in concrete policy design but in 'meta politics' for the New Right and is explicitly devoted to achieving hegemony for the New Right. Its publications have mostly been eschewing engagement with 'realpolitik' and the think tank has alienated former member Karlheinz Weissmann and former supporter Dieter Stein from 'junge freiheit' magazine by referring to them as part of the establishment for their support of the Alternative fuer Deutschland party since 2013/14. However, since the New Right turn of the AfD, IfS and its co-founder Kubitschek have been endorsing the New Right wing of the party. However, no engagement with concrete policies is forthcoming and all emphasis is on supporting the New Right discourse about 'Volk' and the supposed threats to it through 'immigration' (called 'colonialization' by the New Right) and about 'the system' which needs to be overturned in order to install a state and a democracy fit for Germans.
|automatische Einleitung (J/N)=Y
|Einleitung=This is a think tank of the 'New Right. It was closely connected to the new right weekly 'junge freiheit'. The think tank's core theme is 'staatspolitische Ordnung' or 'the State and how it is ordered'.
|Arbeitsmodus, Ziele=The institute has several thematic fields: 'state and society'; 'immigration and integration'; 'politics and identity'; 'education'; and 'war and conflict'.
It organises conferences, some of them take place in Berlin (Berliner Kolleg and Staatspolitische Salons) and weekend seminars ('Collegium Dextrum').These events attract people from a broad spectrum from the New Right, amongst them activists from the Nationaldemokratischen Partei Deutschlands (NPD) and its youth wing Junge Nationaldemokraten (JN), but also from the Identitären Bewegung.
|Topics Anmerkungen=The library seeks to be a special library for all themes revolving around the concept of 'conservatism'.
|automatische Einleitung (J/N)=Y
|Einleitung=The Library of Conservatism is specialised on conservative literature and is the first of its kind in Germany. It refers to itself as a 'Konservative Denkfabrik', i.e. a conservative think tank.
|Arbeitsmodus, Ziele=In 2016, the library has 30.000 units and its catalogue is accessible via the public Gemeinsamer Bibliotheksverbund.
The library's collection policy seeks to collect 'writings of the counter-revolution after 1789', the works of 'conservative authors' and 'journals of the 19th and 20th century and of the present'. In the 20th century, the 'conservative revolution (1918-1932) is a further focal point'. Lastly, the academic literature on conservatism is collected, too.
It also has a special collection 'Lebensrecht', i.e. a collection on pro-life issues. This collection was started with the Stiftung Ja zum Leben - "Foundation Yes to Life".
|Organisation/Finanzierung Text=The library is supported by the Förderstiftung Konservative Bildung und Forschung (Foundation Conservative Education and Research) which was established by Caspar von Schrenck-Notzing in 2000. He founded the New Right journal 'Criticón' which sought to strengthen conservative thinking against the supposed social-liberal hegemony - the 'cultural revolution of the 1968' - in the Federal Republic.
|automatische Einleitung (J/N)=Y
