Das [http://www.idkaramanlis.gr Constantine Karamanlis Institute for Democracy] betreibt den Ausbau der Demokratie, der bürgerlichen Freiheiten und die Förderung privaten Unternehmertums. Es ist nach dem früheren griechischen konservativen Minister- und später Staatspräsidenten Konstantin Karamanlis benannt, gibt aber keine expliziten Hinweise auf inhaltliche Nähe zu oder organisatorische Verbundenheit mit der konservativen Partei Nea Dimokratia. Ihre Vorsitzenden sind frühere führende Politiker dieser Partei. Das Institut wurde 1998 gegründet.

Es hat einen Vorstand von 12 und einen (akademischen) Beirat von 22 Mitgliedern. Es hat acht Abteilungen, von denen vier zu inhaltlich arbeiten (politische Analyse und Dokumentation, Bildung - politische Akademie, Veröffentlichungen & Forschungsprojekte, internationale Zusammenarbeit) und eine, die für Archiv, Bibliothek und Internetpräsenz zuständig ist. Zu inhaltlichen Themenbereichen arbeiten zehn ständige Arbeitsgruppen. Das Institut betreibt außerhalb von Athen Niederlassung in vier griechischen Stätten und Arbeitsgruppen in weiteren drei.

In der Reihe Arbeitspapiere erschienen bisher 19 Ausgaben (um 50 Seiten, nicht online verfügbar, Umfang nicht immer angegeben), in der Buchreihe 'Monographien' (Klassiker liberal-konservativen Denkens, Grundsätzliches) bisher 15 Ausgaben, darunter z.B. ein Werk von F.A.v. Hayek. In der Reihe Polit-Ökonomische Studien (Meletes Politikes kai Ekonomias) erschienen bisher 25 buchähnliche Publikationen.
